Title: The Impact of the Iran War on the Global Order and East Asian Geopolitics
Time: March 27 (Friday), 12:00-13:00
Abstract:What is the emerging impact (to date) of the 2026 Iran war on the global order and on East Asian geopolitics? The talk offers a systematic early evaluation of the ripple effects of the war on global energy flows (and particular impact on China, India, Taiwan, Japan and Korea), as well as prices and domestic economies in the wider region (including South East Asia). The talk also discusses the ripple effects on global governance (including the UN), US-led alliances, global stability, and AI governance (given the large-scale use of AI-directed targeting). A particular attention is given to the impact on the US-China relations and the postponement of the Trump visit to Beijing, as well as US-Japan relations, and possible impacts on Taiwan.
