ABOUT NTHU

NTHU LOGO

The National Tsing Hua University is ranked one of the top universities in Taiwan. It was established at a time of ongoing fusion of the Chinese and Western cultures, and it is the only university in Taiwan that has nurtured three Nobel Prize winners. In the thirty years or more since the former president of the National Tsing Hua University (NTHU), Hsien-Hsiu Hsu, founded its Science Park and served as the minister of the National Science Council, the University has been closely connected to the high-tech industry. The NTHU currently has 802 teachers, 250 researchers, and 16,678 students. The percentage of its foreign students has increased year by year to 8.7%, and the ratio of its courses taught in English is 1/3; its various academic fields are evenly developed throughout the University and the rate of cited international research papers by our teachers per capita is foremost in Taiwan; moreover, the per capita rate for winning important academic awards is the best in Taiwan; and the academic performance of our teachers per capita is judged better than all the country’s other universities. This demonstrates that the University has successfully created an international campus and learning atmosphere, and also has sufficient resources and an organizational system to support the activities and learning of overseas students in TSE.

The NTHU is a comprehensive university with many years of experience in interdisciplinary research and education, including the establishment in 2000 of its College of Technology Management (a business school focused on interdisciplinary areas, including technology management, service science, the law for science and technology, quantitative finance and economics), the first double-specialty bachelor program in Taiwan in 2011, and the establishment of the Colleges of Art and Education in 2017. Statistically speaking, 20% of our graduates have double expertise, which is attributed to the interdisciplinary learning and double-expertise training program implemented in the University in recent years.

The University has 20 years of experience in interdisciplinary teaching and has maintained a good reputation in both academia and the industry. With its interdisciplinary and diverse education system, the NTHU is capable of supporting the interdisciplinary leadership training programs in TSE.
