Guest Speaker: George Yin (Research fellow, National Taiwan University Center for China Studies; Research Associate, Harvard Fairbank Center for Chinese Studies)

Short bio:

George Yin is a research fellow at the National Taiwan University Center for China Studies and an associate-in-research at the Harvard Fairbank Center for Chinese Studies; he is also a senior advisor to the Straits Exchange Foundation. Dr Yin’s academic research investigates when and why states make sub-optimal decisions despite pressures of great power competition. Published widely in foreign policy and academic journals, Dr Yin is an expert on international security, diplomacy, great power politics, and Chinese foreign policy. He has also published a book (in Chinese) commemorating JFK and his experience managing great power competition. Dr Yin is currently working on a book manuscript on the genesis of grand strategy. 
 
Dr Yin has a doctorate in government from Harvard, a master’s in political economy from the London School of Economics, and a bachelor's from Swarthmore College in political science and economics.
