Guest Speaker: Dr. Yuri Miyamoto

(Professor, the Graduate School of Social Sciences, Hitotsubashi University, Japan)

Short Bio

Dr. Yuri Miyamoto is a professor in the Graduate School of Social Sciences at Hitotsubashi University. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Michigan. She worked as a faculty member in the Psychology Department at the University of Wisconsin-Madison for 14 years. Her research focuses on the interplay between cultural contexts and psychological processes by illuminating cultural differences in (a) psychological correlates of social hierarchy and (b) emotion and cognition, and by elucidating their implications for well-being/health. She is an associate editor for Social Psychological and Personality Science and has also served on the editorial boards of multiple journals, including the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, Psychological Science, Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin, and Emotion.
